With Memorial Day here, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the people in our lives who served.
My father, William Lloyd, served in the Army during the Korean War. He’s been gone for ten years now, and I still miss him more than I can say. This time of year always brings back memories, both proud and bittersweet.
It reminds me how much those sacrifices matter… not just in history, but in our own families.
I’d love to hear about someone in your life who served in the military—a parent, grandparent, spouse, or friend. Their story deserves to be remembered.
If you feel comfortable, hit reply and tell me about them.
💌 As a thank you, I’ll choose one reader to receive an advanced copy of Secrets of a Reckless Night.
More than anything, I just want to take a moment together to honor them.
Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day,
Sylvia
P.S. However you spend the day, I hope there’s a moment of reflection—and maybe a quiet thank you—for those who gave so much.

My father is originally from Germany. His father (my grandfather) served in the military over there during World War 1 and World War 2. However, I never got to meet him. He passed away shortly before my parents met.
